Rajamahendravaram: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders visited controversial aava lands in Burugpudi village of Korukonda mandal in Rajanagaram Assembly constituency on Saturday. The government has purchased the lands for allotment of house sites under houses for all scheme.

TDP leaders Chintakayala Ayannapatrudu, Nimmakayala Chinarajappa, Nimmala Ramanaidu, Jyothula Nehru, Gorantla Buchaiah Choudary and Adireddy Appa Rao inspected the lands despite the police trying to stop them.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the lands, the TDP leaders pointed out that 30 acres of aava lands were located in low-lying areas, which will be in water for nine months in a year and also not advisable for conversion as house sites or for construction of houses to the poor people.

If the government levels the land, 15 nearby villages will be submerged and there has been no culvitation in the lands for the last two decades. The TDP leaders alleged that a Rs 150 crore scam took place in purchasing the lands and the State government was planning to spend another Rs 250 crore for levelling of the submerged lands.

The officials and some leaders cheated and misguided the government, they said. The TDP leaders demanded that the government order an enquiry to bring facts to light. The TDP will fight for the hapless poor in this regard if the government fails to roll back its decision, they warned.
