Rally held at Proddatur demanding setting up of HC in Rayalaseema

Kadapa: People from various sections headed by Joint Action Committee have organised a rally in Proddatur on Tuesday demanding establishing High Court in Rayalaseema districts.

The rally has begun at Gandhi Circle, proceeded through T B Road and Rajiv Circle and concluded at Sivalayam Circle. Later the protesters staged begging sitting on kneels at the main Bazar.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, JAC convener Dr Srinath Reddy said that development of Rayalaseema was confined only to papers due to negligence by rulers. He recalled that it was clearly specified in Sribagh agreement which was made between coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions that both regions should be equally developed.

But majority of central and state governments were concentrating on the development of coastal AP and ignoring Rayalaseema for several decades, he said. Proddaturu Bar Association president M Sudhakar Reddy said though there were several chief ministers from Rayalaseema, no one was least bothered for development of the region.

He pointed out Coastal Andhra leaders taken way many central government institutions including state capital to their region. He warned that agitation will be intensified if government fails to establish High Court in Rayalaseema region. Private schools Association state vice-president P Prabhakar Reddy and others were present.
