Re check of cancelled white ration cards in Guntur soon

Guntur : District administration is preparing to verify details of 1,74,556 white ration cards sanctioned to the ineligible persons in the district. After a large number of white ration card holders were found ineligible, the people's representatives began mounting pressure on officials to conduct verification once again. Following orders of the government, the district administration began the verification process.

Currently, there are 14,89,446 white ration cards in the district. But according to survey conducted by the village and ward volunteers, 1,74,556 cards were sanctioned to ineligible..

If the white card holder consumes more than 300 units of power, he or she is not eligible for the card. The ward or village volunteer will inquire about their power consumption during the last six months. Some of the children of the white ration cardholders are working in metros and paying Income-Tax. The ward and village volunteers have recommended cancellation of such cards.

The government directed removal of names of Income Tax assesses from the white ration cards while keeping names of other members who are poor. Such members are also eligible for pension under YSR Pension Scheme. The volunteers will also verify their house as those who have own house with an area exceeding 1,000 square feet will be considered ineligible for the benefit.

If any wrong information was uploaded relating to white card holder, the officials will rectify the mistakes and continue their white ration card. They will check the annual income of card holder to confirm the eligibility. The government urged the eligible persons to apply for white ration cards who had not applied earlier.
