Ongole: Prakasam District Superintendent of Police Dr Koya Praveen said that everyone has a right to make comments but should not make derogatory remarks on the individuals.

He said that after receiving the legal opinion, he will consider filing a defamation case on complainants who made baseless allegations against him.

On Friday, the YSRCP general secretary V Vijayasai Reddy complained to the Election Commission that a few police officials including the DGP RP Thakur and Prakasam SP are violating the constitution and requested the authority to change the officials for smooth polling.

Responding to the allegation by Vijayasai, and other YSRCP leaders that police department has colluded with the ruling party, Praveen said that they have no favoritism towards any party in the district.

He said that he will go through the complaint once he receives it from the Election Commission and ready to file a defamation case against the complainants.

DGP Thakur visited the district police office in Ongole along with the Guntur range IG RP Meena on Saturday and conducted a review meeting with the Ongole and Nellore SPs on pre-poll preparedness.

The SP said the DGP reviewed the status on the security arrangements, bind over cases, non-bailable warrants along with the positioning of Central forces.

He said that they were working for the people in all parties and if any of them have any concerns over the action being initiated, they may submit a wish list with the required information in the meeting scheduled with the parties on March 28.

The SP also warned that leaders of any party manhandling on the members of survey teams from any organisation or party is a crime and action will be initiated on them.

He said that any person can perform his job in the limits of the constitution under article 19 and 21, and obstructing it is a punishable offence.
