Red Cross collects 35,000 blood units in Guntur
Guntur: Red Cross State president Dr A Sridhar Reddy said that they have collected 35,000 blood units from the donors to meet blood needs of the people for the next one month.
Dr Reddy flagged off vehicle to send 500 units of blood to Telangana State at a programme held at Indian Red Cross Guntur branch here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that collecting of 35,000 unit blood is the world record and added that they are sending excess blood they have collected from the donors to neighbouring Telangana.
He said they conducted 96 blood donation camps and collected blood from the donors and take steps to solve blood scarcity problem in the state, and also send the blood to Tamil Nadu and Karnataka States. YSRCP State party office general secretary Lella Appi Reddy, Madhyavimochana Prachara Committee chairman V Lakshmana Reddy were among those present.
