Redesigning of Purushothapatnam Lift Irrigation Project saves Rs 51 Cr to AP Govt
Amaravati: The State government saved another Rs 51 cr roughly by redesigning the Purushothapatnam Lift Irrigation project works. Aditya Nath Das, Special Chief Secretary, Water Resources department has issued a G.O.RT.No. 97 on Monday by reducing the revised contract values.
He explained in the GO that, "The Government accord approved the deviations in the work of Purushothapatnam lift irrigation scheme due to design variations resulting in savings of Rs. 6.681 Cr at agreement rates and other savings of Rs. 44.203 Crores due to the adoption of the reformulated Schedule of Rates (SOR) as per GST guidelines, the revised contract value is Rs.1576.158 Cr including tender premium against the contract value of Rs.1627.04 Cr".
This project is aimed at lifting flood water of 3500 CFS from river Godavari at Km.40.8 of the left bank near Purushothapatnam to join at Km.1.7 of Polavaram Irrigation Left the main canal for irrigating Polavaram Left Canal ayacut up to Km.57.88 in the 1st stage. It also aimed at supplementation to Yeleru ayacut and to fill up the Yeleru reservoir by lift in the second stage for providing water for domestic and industrial needs of Vizag city to achieve early benefits as a part of Uttarandhra Sujala Sravanthi.
In fact, the contract was given to the Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd, Hyderabad on 30.01.2017 with an agreement for completion within a period of 9 months under EPC mode of contract. The entire scheme has been completed except certain works that are proposed for deletion.
