Remove party colours from all public buildings in four weeks, Supreme Court to AP govt

In a rude shock to the YSRCP government led by chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Supreme Court struck down the petition filed over the party colours on government buildings. The court has ordered the removal of colours on government buildings within four weeks of stipulated time and warned of filing contempt of court. The AP government has tried to argue that the colours were no way related to the YSRCP flag. However, the court dismissed it. This petition was filed in the Supreme Court challenging the High Court's ruling on party colours for government buildings.

Earlier, the petition has been filed in the Andhra Pradesh High Court stating that the state government has painted YSRCP colours to public offices. The court ordered the colors be removed. The government issued the GO 623 on April 23 to make the colours green, blue and white. However, the it was again challenged in High Court and proceeded with the inquiry subsequently cancelled the GO 623.

The high court has ordered the AP government not to paint political party colours to offices. The court was outraged that the government had not complied with the directives and hence dismissed the government-issued GO 623. The CS and the Panchayat Secretary have been asked to give an explanation and commented that it should be considered contemptuous. The government filed a petition in the Supreme Court, which was dismissed.
