Review meet on MCC held
Ongole: Joint Collector for the Prakasam district and returning officer for Bapatla Parliament S Nagalakshmi asked the representatives from the political parties to help her in organising the elections in a smooth manner. She conducted a review meeting on the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and the expenditure by the candidates in the Bapatla parliament constituency.
Nagalakshmi announced that cases will be booked on the candidates violating the MCC. She said that the candidates should have opened a new bank account and the expenditure should be made from that account only. She warned that the limit for the expenditure is only Rs 70 lakh for parliament candidates and the details should be submitted to the observers without fail.
She said that the publicity hoardings should be erected only on the private properties with prior permission from their owners. She said that cases will be booked on the people who distribute money and liquor to the voters. The candidates who wish to campaign on print, electronic and social media including the pamphlets and posters should take prior approval from the media certification committee, she added. She said them that about 40 thousand postal ballot papers are being printed for the Bapatla parliamentary constituency.
The Bapatla parliamentary general observer Santosh Kumar, expenditure observer Vikram Singh Sarma, representatives from the political parties JD Seelam, Nutakki Ramarao, Kranti Kumar, Bhaskar Rao, Tumati Ravi, Haribabu, Chandu, Kishore Kumar, Kameswara Rao, Vijay Kumar, Suresh Babu and others also participated in the meeting.
