Vijayawada: Rice cards will be sanctioned in five days, says Kodali Nani

Vijayawada: Stating that the State government would sanction rice cards to all eligible beneficiaries, Civil Supplies Minister Kodali Venkateswara Rao alias Nani said on Saturday that the eligible applicants can apply in the ward secretariats and the government would sanction the cards in five days.

Nani along with Joint Collector K Madhavi Latha launched the distribution of rice cards at the camp office.

Speaking on the occasion, Kodali Nani said the ward volunteers will verify the applications and the eligible beneficiaries will get the new rice cards in five days. He said the sanction of rice cards is a continuous process. Giving details on ration cards, he said there were 1.47 crore ration cards in the State. Nani informed that verification was done for 18 lakh ration cards out of which the addresses of 2 lakh beneficiaries were not detected.

He said six lakh ration card holders claimed that their cards were cancelled by the government after verification. He said the government will verify the details of these cardholders and would sanction fresh cards if they are found to be eligible.

He announced that eight lakh ration card holders had returned the cards to the government because they were granted Aarogyasri and fee reimbursement cards. He congratulated the Ward Secretariat staff and village volunteers for rendering services to the beneficiaries.

He has made it clear that eligible beneficiaries will get rice cards at their homes as volunteers will visit homes and distribute them. He said the rice card beneficiaries can get information updated on the cards at the Ward Secretariats.

Referring to Aarogyasri, he said the government has decided to sanction 1.60 crore Aarogyasri cards and 1.4 crore fee reimbursement cards in the State. He said the State government was determined to distribute house site pattas to 25 lakh families by Ugadi and District Collectors, Joint Collectors, tahsildars and other officials were taking measures for the distribution of house site pattas.
