Rich tributes paid to architect of Indian Constitution in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam: The 70th anniversary of adopting the Constitution was celebrated by various departments and institutions across the district here on Tuesday. District Collector V Vinay Chand, Joint Collector L Shiva Shankar and other district officials offered floral tributes to the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar near LIC building GVMC Commissioner G Srijana garlanded the portrait of Dr B R Ambedkar on the occasion.

Additional Commissioner of G V M C R Somanarayana and other staff took part in the programme that concluded with administration of pledge. Chairman and Managing Director of APEPDCL Nagalakshmi.S Director (Operation and Projects) K Rajabapaiah along with other employees paid rich tributes to the architect of the Indian Constitution at the corporate office.

The CMD of the APEPDCL administered a pledge on the occasion. She said that the Constitution drafted by Dr B R Ambedkar is not only an ideal one but also provides equal rights to all.

A pledge was administered by executive director (Works) I/c K V Vidya Sagar to mark the day at RINL, Steel Plant. HoDs of various departments took part in the programme. Meanwhile, Visakhapatnam Port Trust observed the day by celebrating it at Sambamurthi Auditorium. VPT Chairman K Rama Mohan Rao administered the pledge to the employees of the port.

He stressed on hard work and commitment to contribute to the growth of the VPT. Deputy Chairman of VPT P L Haranadh and secretary C Harichandran, among others. Andhra University Vice-Chancellor P V G D Prasad Reddy, principal of Dr B R Ambedkar College of Law S Sumitra along with other staff members paid rich floral tributes to the bust of Dr B R Ambedkar. VMRDA Chairman Earlier, Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao and MLA Golla Baburao took part in the rally organised by the AU SC, ST, BC Employees Association.

Marking the occasion, Hindustan Petroleum in association with the Institute of Skill Development celebrated 'Samvidhan Diwas' organising an awareness programme on fundamental duties. The event was held as a part of the 'Sankalp Se Sidhhi'.
