Rich tributes paid to Dr Ambedkar

SPDCL Chairman and Managing Director MM Naik paying floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar in Tirupati on Sunday

Tirupati : The 128th birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar was celebrated at several places across the pilgrim city on Sunday. Government offices, educational institutions social organisations and political parties participated in the festivities with pomp and gaiety.

A meeting was jointly organised by AP Scheduled Castes Welfare Association (APSCWA)

and Sri Challappa Memorial Bhavan Committee (SCMBC) at Ambedkar Statue Circle in Tirupati and several leaders and officials addressed the huge gathering. ``The Indian Constitution was framed by Dr Ambedkar and he was mainly responsible for safeguarding democracy in our country and also for protecting the rights of various sections of people,'' the speakers said.

APSCWA president Paramasivan and SCMBC secretary K Nageswar Rao said the birth anniversary of Ambedkar is being celebrated not only in India but all over the world in recognition of his immense contribution for protection human rights and striving for the development of the downtrodden.

TTD Joint Executive Officer (Tirumala) K Sreenivasa Raju lauded the multifaceted personality of Dr Ambedkar for the all round advancement of Dalits, Backward classes and women in the society. Addressing at Ambedkar Jayanthi organised by TTD here JEO said it was Ambedkar struggle that had brought equality, equal rights and universal freedom to the oppressed classes.

Dr K Rathaiah former Vice-Chancellor of Dravidian University and Advocate Sampoorna also spoke on the occasion. In Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidya Peetha (RSVP) Prof Madhujyothi said Ambedkar thirst for knowledge made him global intellectual, celebrated jurist, economist, politician and fearless fighter for the cause of oppressed and depressed people.

In his 1000-day stay in London, he read 1600 books, she said adding that education is the only tool for down trodden to come up in life. RSVP Vice-Chancellor V Muralidhar Sharma said that the University is conducting coaching classes for SC, ST students for civil service examination and to achieve higher positions.

Tirupati Brahmana Samajam celebrated Ambedkar Jayanthi in which Samjam secretary K Ajeyakumar, senior member and Congress leader K Pramilamma, Chakravarthy Raghavan and others paid floral tributes to the portrait of Ambedkar. They said that the real tribute to Ambedkar is to see that there is no discrimination anywhere and in any form in the country.

The celebration was observed in DISCOM corporate office where SPDCL CD MM Naik and other paid floral tributes to Ambedkar statue in the office premises.Ambedkar birth anniversary was also observed by Madabhushi Anantasayanam Institute of Public Affairs (MAIPA) headed by former Speaker and senior politician Augural Eswar Reddi, BJP district office and also in several government offices and educational institutions.

The statue of Dr Babsaheb Ambedkar near RTC bus stand was immersed in heaps of garlands offered by admirers who line up to pay floral tributes to Ambedkar on the occasion of his birth anniversary.
