Rich tributes to Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary
Vijayawada: Floral tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at Andhra Ratna Bhavan by the congress leaders here on Tuesday. Good number of party leaders and workers gathered to pay tribute on the 28th death anniversary of the former PM.
Speaking on the occasion, state leader Tulasi Reddy said that 28 years ago Rajiv Gandhi was killed by LTTE human bomb at Tamil Nadu. He said that Rajeev Gandhi made his mark as a PM with his initiation in various welfare activities particularly for the development of Information Technology in the country.
He was the dynamic Prime Minister who brought telecom revolution in the country besides creating women empowerment and reservation in local bodies by amendments in the constitution of India, Tulasi Reddy added. He also brought the age limit for voting to 18 and reminded that May 21 was observed as anti-terrorist day in the country, he said. Leaders MJ Ratnakumar, N Narsimharao, K Sivaji, M Rajeshwararao, B Baburao and others were present.
