RIL distributes sewing machines in Tallarevu mandal
Kakinada: Reliance Industries, under corporate social responsibility (CSR), has initiated intervention schemes in Gadimoga and Bhairavapalem panchayats in Tallarevu and Katrenikona mandals in East Godavari since its inception.
Women have been motivated for creating livelihood opportunities. Training in tailoring to women to empower the community was started by supplying sewing machines.
This initiative has been highly appreciated and lauded by one and all and is successfully functioning.
As part of this, a group of 150 women from Gadimoga, Bhairavapalem, Pedavalasala and Chinavalasala have been trained and provided sewing machines during the last two years.
The 40-day training programme covers the basics of tailoring, minor repairing techniques of sewing machine, stitching of various clothing items such as blouse, Punjabi top and bottom and children school uniforms etc.
Required material and machines have been kept for smooth conduct of the training. Two expert trainers have been imparting the training to these women.
As part of extension of this programme, Reliance started training to fisher community women at Lakshmipathipuram village of Tallarevu mandal from January this year. A total of 30 fisher folk women have been provided training.
On Monday, at closing ceremony, the RIL provided sewing machines to these 30 women to earn on their own. Village elders and women groups in the village appreciated the RIL gesture towards women development.
