Tirupati: Role of physiotherapy in medical science highlighted

Tirupati: Tirupati MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy on Wednesday said that physiotherapy is inseparable with health sector and it has been gaining more and more importance in the country though once it was confined to foreign countries only.

Addressing a meeting on the occasion of the World Physiotherapy Day held in SVIMS on Wednesday, he called upon the physiotherapists to enhance their skills from time to time.

Government whip and TUDA Chairman Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy said that Physiotherpay has become a part of medical treatment. It helps keep everyone physically and mentally strong. SVIMS Director-cum-Vice-Chancellor Dr B Vengamma has delivered a lecture on "Chronic pain and its Management" and said that to become stress free in the modern world, one has to keep his/her mind healthy to be peaceful and do regular exercise. Through this people will have control over their body and discharge their duties successfully.

The patients in neurosurgery, orthopaedic and neurology departments require physiotherapy along with medicines to get cured early.

The participants at the meeting released posters and booklet on the importance of physiotherapy. SVIMS Sri Padmavati Medical College for Women Principal Dr M Hanumantha Rao, SVIMS Medical Superintendent Dr Alok Sachan, Dr Sreedhar Babu, Dr Uma Maheswar Rao and others participated.
