Role of teachers crucial in grooming young children in ethical values: Harichandan

Amaravati: Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan said teachers have a great role to play in inculcating the moral and ethical values among children, while launching epic spiritual books such as Mahabharata, Ramayana, Bhagavad Gita, brought out by Sri Pavani Seva Samithi, a non-governmental organization, at Raj Bhavan on Saturday.

Harichandan appreciated the efforts of the organization in bringing out epic books. The organization is distributing these spiritual books free of cost. All these books are brought easily to understand format and distributing them to Telugu teachers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Harichandan said though he wrote a book in Odiya, titled Abhisapta Karna, on the role of Karna in Mahabharata, his younger brother Dr. Niladri Bhusan Harichandan, who worked as Head of the Department in Shanti Niketan, wrote several books on Mahabharata epic.

The Governor said Bhagavad Gita, which teaches us the essence of life has been included in the curriculum in Universities not only in India but other countries also. He said the teachers and students have a great role to play in the nation-building and teachers should make it a point to teach ethics and morals which are part of the epics such as Ramayana, Mahabharata, Bhagavad Gita.

The Governor said after India gained freedom, Mahatma Gandhi dreamt of Ram Rajya in the country, but how can we achieve Ram Rajya, without knowing what is Ramayana.

TTD Chairman Y.V. Subba Reddy assured the organizers of the Sri Pavani Seva Samithi, all help from TTD in publishing the epic spiritual books for distribution to teachers at free of cost.

Challa Sambi Reddy, Prof. Murru Muthyalu Naidu of Sri Pavani Seva Samithi and members representing various spiritual organizations have attended the programme.
