RS 5 lakh worth horticulture crops destroyed in elephants attack

Kadapa : RS 5lakh worth horticulture crops like Banana, Mango, motor pipes, iron fencing were destroyed in the attack by group of elephants in S.Kothaalli village of Railway Kodur mandal on Saturday.

According to the land owner Koppala Venkataiah Yadav lodged complaint to the forest department a group of elephants entered his field destroyed crops in the wee hours of Thursday.

In his complaint he said it has become common practice during every crop season elephants from Seshachalam forest entered the for drinking water destroying the crops.

However officials admitted that there was problem with elephants following lack of water sources due to severe dry spell conditions prevailing in the district. They said the forest department already arranged water pits for drinking water purpose, and canals were digged at the fields to prevent the entry of elephants.
