Sacrifices of martyrs recalled: Kurasala Kannababu

Kakinada: Agricultural Minister Kurasala Kannababu on Sunday recalled the services of martyrs. Participating as a chief guest in a free medical camp held by the district police at Police Kalyana Mandapam on the occassion of Police Martyrs Day, he stressed the need for remembering the sacrifices of martyrs.

Hailing the sacrifices made by the police to protect the lives of people and while maintaining law and order, he said that many policemen were killed In Maoist activities and their families were in hapless condition. Kannababu stressed the need for helping those families and extend total moral support to the families.

He stated the government was taking necessary steps for the welfare of police and martyrs' families. He also lauded the police for conducting blood donation camps, Swachh Bharat, Open House and arms exhibition on the occassion of Police Martyrs Week celebrations.

He said the State government has introduced friendly-policing programme to build confidence among people on the police. He said that after assuming power, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy announced weekly offs to police personnel and increased home guards' wages from Rs 600 to Rs 710 per day. He said that police stations would be renovated and provided with all infrastructure facilities. SP A N Asmi was also present.
