Sania Mirza's poster carrying PT Usha's name kicks up row

Visakhapatnam: The sports department of district administration drew flak on the National Sports Day celebrations as one of the flex boards with tennis player Sania Mirza was erroneously mentioned as ace athlete P T Usha.

The flex board was erected near Submarine Museum on Beach Road, marking the National Sports Day celebrations. With the poster going viral on social media, it led to major embarrassment to the district administration.

Taking cognizance of the issue, Joint Collector L Siva Sankar issued a show cause notice to two coaches, who were vested with that responsibility and sought an explanation on the goof up.

It may be recalled that as part of the National Sports Day celebrations, flex boards were set up all along the Beach Road. In one of the flex boards, an image of Sania Mirza carried P T Usha's name. Later, the poster was removed.
