Sanitary workers demand 18,000 salary in Chittoor
Chittoor: Protesting against alleged the indiscrimination of the government towards their demands , about 1,500 Village sanitation workers staged dharna at the Collectorate here on Thursday. CITU state general secretary Venkataramaiah flayed Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy for neglecting the genuine demands of the sanitation workers.
He demanded the government to take immediate steps to hike their salary to Rs.18,000 per month . He said that majority of sanitary workers were educated and deserve promotions. The CITU urges the government to treat the sanitation workers as Village Secretariat employees and provide all the benefits.
District CITU general secretary P Chaithanya explained the pitiable working conditions of the sanitation workers in the district. The leaders made an attempt to lay siege to the Collectorate. Chittoor-2 CI Yugandhar and his team thwarted their attempts. The agitating workers were arrested and shifted to police station.
