Sankranti Brahmotsavams at Srisailam from January 11

KurnoolSankranti Brahmotsavam will be conducted at Srisailam temple in the district from Januaray 11 to January 17. Temple executive officer (EO) KS Rama Rao held a meeting with officials on the event on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the EO said that one week day celebrations would be organised with Panchahnika Deeksha. Brahmotsavams to Mallikarjuna swamy would be celebrated twice in a year, during Sivaratri and Sankranti. On this occasion, the devotees of the Chenchu community would offer new clothes, honey, fruits, rice cooked in bamboo, basikams knitted with leaves, yagnopaveetham to Mallikarjuna Swamy and waist ornament to Ammavarlu (Bramarambika).

He said the officials and staff were strictly ordered to follow Covid norms. Kainkaryams to the God and the Goddess have to be performed without interruptions and time rule must be strictly adhered to at Vaidik programmes. Later, he reviewed department-wise arrangements to be made on the occasion. Devotees should be freely allowed at darshan. The officials need to educate the devotees about compulsory mask wearing and regular cleaning of hands.

He told the temple officials to serve food in packets from 10 am. Laddus should be prepared as per the rush of devotees. Special focus should be laid on sanitation. The horticulture department officials were ordered to take care of flower decoration. Flexis will be set up detailing full information regarding the temple schedules and other information at all junctions so that the devotees reaching the temple can easily know about the festival.

Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) project officer Ravindra Reddy said that the Chechu tribals were being educated on their participation during Sankranti Brahmotsavam kalyanam. The Chenchu devotees from Prakasham and Guntur districts besides from Kurnool would be invited to the Brahmotsavams.
