Scientists told to file for patents
Visakhapatnam: Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL), celebrated National Technology Day on Saturday. National Technology Day is observed on May 11 every year, to commemorate successful nuclear test, Operation Shakti (Pokhran-II) in Pokhran, Rajasthan.
M V Gowtama, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharat Electronics Limited, Bengaluru, inaugurated the celebrations along with Dr Sameer V Kamat, Director General (Naval Systems and Materials), Dr O R Nandagopan, Director NSTL and V Rama Mohana Rao, Scientist 'F' and Chairman NTDC-2019. MV Gowtama remembered the past scientists of India, who have not filed any patent, but helped a lot to the world.
He explained the importance of patents and insisted each scientist to file patents as many as possible, for protecting and encashing the knowledge. Gowtama explained in detail how DRDO and BEL are moving towards strengthening Make-in-India initiative and wished many more joint ventures to come up in future.
NSTL Director Nandagopan appealed to scientists to tune towards achieving futuristic goals with innovation and creativity. He urged NSTL officers and staff to give their best with long-term planning and develop technology-upgraded weapon systems, to become technology leaders.
Dr Sameer V Kamat, Director General (Naval Systems and Materials) advised scientists of NSTL to keep pace with the rapid technological changes. He explained how DRDO headquarters is simplifying the procedures to increase production within timeframes. He welcomed collaboration with PSUs including BEL to meet the project timeframes.
On the occasion, Director's Commendation Certificate has been presented to A Sambasiva Rao, Scientist 'D', for his oration on "LMS Based Sparse Aware Adaptive Equalisation techniques for Underwater Acoustic Communication Channel."
