Scrapping of Article 370 facilitates Jammu & Kashmir development: BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi
Guntur: BJP MP and party national spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi resolved the seven decades-old problem in Jammu & Kashmir by abolishing the Article-370, which provides special category status to the state.
Addressing the national unity campaign 'One Nation-One Constitution,' at a meeting held at Convention Centre in Guntur city on Monday, she said that due to Article 370, the people of Kashmir were facing so many problems. She recalled that there were no reservations for SC/STs in Jammu & Kashmir and no welfare schemes were being implemented for upliftment of minorities. She said the scrapping of Article 370 facilitates development in Jammu and Kashmir state on all aspects.
She said that there was no system to send funds to the panchayats directly in Jammu & Kashmir. She added that three families were enjoying the power so far in J&K.
Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi spent Rs 25,000 crore in J&K for its development, she recalled that the BJP government was opposing Article-370 in J&K from the beginning. She questioned do we need two flags, two constitutions and double citizenship in our country. BJP Guntur urban president Ammitsetty Anjaneyulu presided over meeting. Tobacco Board Chairman Yadlapati Raghnadh Babu, BJP State general secretary Suresh Reddy, BJP legal cell State convener Jupudi Ranga Raju were among those participated in the campaign.
