Security beefed up for peaceful elections

Kakinada: East Godavari police, as part of measures for smooth conduct of polling on April 11, beefed up security in the district, including the district borders of Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Odisha.

Under this programme, a total of 5,500 bind over cases were booked. Another 1,000 cases of code violation were registered. As many as 14 check-posts have been started in addition to existing ones.

The police conducted march- past to create confidence in voters in sensitive areas. In addition to this, mass awareness programmes were being conducted to increase the voting percentage.

East Godavari SP Vishal Gunni on Monday said that they are taking every measure for the smooth conduct of polls in the district including in agency areas.
