Security tightened ahead of Brahmotsavams in Tirupati

Tirupati: As the annual Brahmotsavams are drawing near, Urban police have tightened the security in Tirumala Hills and Tirupati city. Urban SP KKN Anburajan has directed the DSPs to conduct cordon and search operations in their respective sub-division limits.

The Urban SP and TTD CVSO Gopinath Jetti inspected the security arrangements at four mada streets, Kalyanakatta, Annadanam complex and outside the premises of Venkateswara temple in Tirumala.

In Tirumala shrine under the supervision of VGO ML Manohar, TTD vigilance sleuths have conducted checks at Balaji Nagar, taxi stands and guest houses. They have collected details like Aadhaar, mobile number, permanent addresses from the persons, who have been staying unauthorizedly for livelihood.

Tirumala I Town CI Jagan Mohan Reddy and II Town CI Chandrashekar have conducted security awareness meetings with vendors, hoteliers, tiffin centre owners and asked them to give information to police if they find any suspicious persons and luggage bags near their shops.

Also, Tirupati East Division police have conducted cordon and search operations at STV Nagar, Air bypass road, central bus stand, Jeevakona, Mangalam and other sensitive localities.

Likewise, Srikalahasti police conducted cordon and search on the outskirts of the temple town on Friday night and Renigunta police have conducted searches at Tarakarama Nagar on Saturday.

In the search, the cops seized 100 bikes and auto-rickshaws and questioned 35 suspected persons. In the wake of terrorist threat to Tirumala, the police intensified the visible policing and patrolling.
