Seminar on faculty development and student orientation: K Lakshmi Narayana
Visakhapatnam: A seminar on 'Excellence in Engineering Education' and a faculty development programme (FDP) on the 'Role of Teacher in 21st Century Engineering Education' was held at Vignan's Institute of Information Technology (Autonomous), Duvvada on Tuesday.
Founder-director of Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation K Lakshmi Narayana participated as chief guest and motivated students and the faculty members through his inspirational talk.
While the topic centred on' how to achieve excellence in academic pursuits', 'how to develop life skills', 'how college life helps in shaping future' were some of the topics aimed at addressing students, Lakshmi Narayana urged the teachers to be confident and dedicate themselves to the noble profession they have chosen.
The speaker exhorted the students to be practical and update themselves with technology without getting deviated from imbibing moral values. He laid emphasis on learning continuously to get required skills.
Further the retired IAS officer said that the education system should provide adequate skills to the students to make them industry-ready and urged them to be creative and enjoy the process of studying. Apart from the curriculum, teachers were asked to teach different skills to the students.
Rector of the institution V Madhusudhan Rao, Principal B Arundathi, Vice Principal and Dean K Madhusudhana Rao were present along with 200 faculty members and an equal number of students at the event.
