Seminar on sciences concludes at St Teresa College

Eluru: The International Forum on "Recent Trends in Physics, Chemistry & Allied Sciences for Sustainable Development' concluded at Ch SD St Teresa's College for Women(Autonomous) here on Saturday. The program was organized with RUSA grants.

Principal Dr Sr Marietta D'Mello said the present deliberations will lead to good research which is useful for society. Different plenary talks were given by eminent resource persons of different fields. Dr M Rama Krishan Rao, HOD of physics, Hindu College, Machilipatnam gave a presentation on liquid crystals and their applications.

Dr Ramesh L Gardas, Associate Professor, Dept of Chemistry, IIT Madras spoke about environment friendly solvents and their influence on development of research-Ionic liquid.

Dr Ramachandra RK, Dept of Physics, Govt College Rajamahendravaram gave a presentation on Nano material and crystal growth. Dr SA Martin Britto Das, Dept of Physics, Abdul Kalam Research Center, Vellore, Tamil Nadu gave a presentation on Nano and Bulk crystals and their applications. Rev Sr Lourdh Mary, Correspondent said, "This type of seminar and forums create interest and inspire the students towards research."

Rev Dr Sr Marietta D'Mello said, "We have to protect our environment with our research and hand it over to future generations in a safe mode." Rev Sr Dr Showrilu, Vice-Principal and convener of the forum spoke about participation of students in research to contribute something for our society. The programme was organized by members of Dept of Physics, Chemistry and IMRF institute for Research and Education in India.
