Series of burglaries cause panic among people in Kurnool, Nandyal
Kurnool: Series of thefts startle the residents of Nandyal and Kurnool towns. Burglars robbed four houses on Saturday night and they include two in Nandyal, one at Santosh Nagar in Kurnool and the other at Gondiparla village. These robberies have now become a challenge to police personnel to track and nab them. The thieves have sprinkled chilli powder at the houses so that their identity could not be tracked.
The culprits first gained entry into the locked house of Deputy Tahsildar Rama Devi at Farooq Nagar and decamped with 40 tulas of gold, 2 kg of silver and Rs. 2 lakhs cash. At the time, the Deputy Tahsildar and family members have gone to Kurnool to attend a relative's funeral after locking the house.
The burglars sprinkled chilli powder in the house so that their identity could not be tracked by the police. After retuning, the family members made a complaint to the police.
In another case, at Chapirevula village under Nandyal Taluk, the thieves entered into a locked house when the owner Venkatamma had gone to Thogadacheruvu. They decamped with Rs.20,000 cash and 2 tulas of gold ornaments.
Similarly, the miscreants entered into a locked apartment at Santosh Nagar in Kurnool and decamped with 15 tulas of gold, 10 tulas of silver and Rs.1 lakh cash. Yet in another incident, two unidentified persons in the guise of performing special prayers fled the scene with two tulas of gold chain at Gondiparla village.
Apart from robberies, Harinath a resident of Nandyal was kidnapped by some persons on Friday demanding money. He was confined at a bore well motor room at an agriculture farm near Chagalamarri.
He however managed to escape from their custody and was admitted in Nandyal General Hospital for treatment of bruises. The thieves took advantages of police personnel busy celebrating Police Commemoration Week, and indulged in series of crimes.
