Set up HC in Seema, Law Minister urged
Tirupati: BJP leaders led by State secretary G Bhanuprakash Reddy submitted a representation to Union Minister of Law Ravi Shankar Prasad to establish AP High Court in Rayalaseema instead of in State capital Amaravati where it is now functioning.
The BJP leaders, who received the Union Law Minister at the airport on Thursday, explained him the need of locating the High Court in Rayalaseema to propel the development of the backward area.
The litigants from Rayalaseema and Nellore constitute more than 50 per cent of the cases pending before the High Court, they said in the representation adding that the five districts are like a homogenous block with similarity in various aspects.
The Union Minister, who arrived here on a two-day visit to the district was welcomed by TUDA Chairman and Whip Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, Tirupati MP B Durga Prasada Rao, Chittoor Collector Bharath Gupta and others.
Immediately, after his arrival, the Minister left to Sri Brahmrishi Ashram in Ramachandrapuram after a brief halt in a private hotel. Official sources said that the Union Minister after his visit to the Ashram will reach Tirumala tonight. He will have darshan of Lord on Friday and also participate in locally arranged programme in Tirupati down the hills before his departure.
