Several injured during the Devaragattu Bunny festival in Kurnool

One person died and more than 60 people were injured during the Devaragattu bunny festival held in Kurnool district on Tuesday. According to the details, local youth climbed a tree to watch the stick fight, however, a young man identified as Ganesh died when a branch of a tree broke. The injured are being treated at the hospital.

The Bunny Festival holds great cultural significance in Devaragattu, with devotees participating in the stick fight tradition to honour the idol of Malamalleswara likewise every year, the Bunny Festival is held as a stick fight on Tuesday amid Dussehra.

On the bunny festival, the devotees from the surrounding villages of Devaragattu will fight with sticks for the idol of Malamalleswara and believe that all the good will happen if they take the idol of the deity at midnight. In this battle which happens every year, many people have been injured and several people have died.
