Shakambari celebrations begin

Vijayawada: Minister for Endowments V Srinivas on Sunday hoped that the mercy of the Goddess Kanaka Durga will shower on the state in the month of Ashadam. He attended as the chief guest at three-day-long Shakambari celebrations which started on a grand note atop Indrakeeladri, the abode of Goddess Durga.

The Minister along with his family members participated in the festivities. Temple executive officer V Koteswaramma and priests welcomed the Minister with temple tradition. Goddess Durga was decorated in the form of Shakambari Devi. The temple is decorated with various fruits, vegetables and greens.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said they offered prayers to Goddess Durga for the happiness of the people of all communities in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy. The Minister said heavy rainfall on Shakambari Festival day was a good sign for the people of the state as people were eagerly waiting for rains. The officials are advised to make all arrangements for the devotees without causing any trouble.
