Shakthi teams helpful to girl students: K Purnima Ramani
Vijayawada: Shakthi Mahila police teams are always ready to help the girl students and women, said K Purnima, Sub-inspector of police on Monday.
As part of the awareness programmes being conducted in various educational institutions by Mahila Shakti teams, Purnima Ramani along with other women police visited Moulana Abul Kalam Azad Municipal Corporation High School in One-Town and addressed the children.
Speaking on the occasion, she said the city police were always available to the people round the clock and they can dial 100 to get assistance from the police. She said Shakti Mahila police teams were visiting various parts of the city and suburbs to check eve-teasing and other activities.
She asked the girls to be bold and always give priority to self-protection. She said the police are conducting counseling to eve-teasers and asking them to treat the girls and women as their family members and shun the bad habit of eve-teasing and harassment of girls and women on the roads. She said the police would take stringent action against the offenders, who molest or misbehave with the women and girls.
School Head Minister M Nagalingeswara Rao, Riazuddin Basha, student police cadet tutor J Ramakrishna and other teachers present on the occasion. The staff felicitated the Sub-inspector of police on the occasion.
Ramakrishna said such awareness programmes will enhance the confidence of the children and thanked the woman SI. The event was organised to mark the Police Martyrs Commemoration Day.
