Siemens centre trains 3K tech students in 2 yrs
Tirupati: Siemens Centre of Excellence set up in Sri Venkateswara University two years ago has trained more than 3,000 B.Tech students in various basic engineering technologies. To upgrade the students in engineering skills at a cost of Rs 350 crore, a total of 16 advanced laboratories were established at SVU Engineering College by the Siemens company. It has 3D experience platform to meet state-of-the-art industrial demands.
In the Siemens lab, synchronous modelling and parametric design, essentials for NX designs, advanced simulation, essential drafting skills and other 24 modules are readily available for students to learn advanced engineering techniques through on hands experience.
This summer, the centre is ready to train 600 students and applications were invited from students to train them in advanced technology at 16 modern labs. As far as regular training is concerned, students of 15 engineering colleges in Chittoor district enrolled at Siemens Centre of Excellence.
Interested students from Mechanical, ECE, Computer Science and Electrical branches can enrol their names to learn latest engineering techniques through hands on experience. After completion of the training, the centre will be issue certificate for the benefit of students at each level. The enrolled students have to pay Rs 3,000 for six weeks' training programme and Rs 4,000 for eight weeks training.
"The students can register their names through website apssdc.siemens.in. Regarding the summer coaching in engineering skills, we are going to provide all the technical support to the students and are providing high-end computers in the labs," said Centre of Excellence in-charge Prof Diwakar Reddy.
He added that Anadhra Pradesh Skill Development Corporation and SV University are jointly running the student training programme successfully with the support of Siemens company imparting training to them in different engineering modules, including 3D technology.
The Centre mainly aims to train students of Rayalaseema. But students from engineering colleges not affiliated to SVU can also enrol their names to train here under the guidance of senior professors, said the centre's officials.
