SIO demands changes in NEP-2019 draft in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: The state unit of Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) demanded changes in draft of National Educational Policy (NEP)-2019 released by the Central government two months ago.
Addressing the media here on Tuesday, Syed Luqman, state secretary of SIO said that the draft was completely in violation of the constitutional values framed for the education system in the country. He said that NEP should be constitutional, de-centralised and non-commercial.
He alleged that NEP draft denies equal opportunities to all the members of various communities leading to commercialisation of education. There was no mention of fee structure in private and corporate institutions, he added.
Shaikh Askari, state president of SIO said that there should be the two-language system where English and the mother tongue should be implemented besides implementation of religious language. A poster was released on the occasion by the leaders of SIO.
