SIT formed to probe death of 100 cows in Tadepalli

Amaravati: AP DGP Goutam Sawang has issued orders for the formation of SIT(Special Investigation Team) to probe the suspicious death of 100 cows in gosala near Kotturu Tadepalli in Vijayawada.

Vijayawada CP Dwaraka Tirumala Rao will appoint the officers in the SIT team which will be headed by an ACP level officer. The SIT team will investigate the causes behind the deaths of the cows in the gosala.

So far no clues were found over the death of cows in the gosala. In this context, DGP Goutam Sawang has taken up this case as a challenge and appointed SIT to solve the case.

The SIT headed by ACP level officer will be working to find out the facts and circumstances that led to the cow deaths. The team will take the support of forensic science departments and animal husbandry department.

The 128 cows have fallen sick after consuming the feed on Friday night (August 9) and out of which 103 cows have died. There are 1500 cows in the gosala.

Earlier, the gosala caretakers use to get fodder supply from Vijayawada, but recently they have changed to Addanki in Prakasam district.

The officials said the preliminary report has found that the toxicity is the cause of the death of the cows. However, they ruled out the possibility of food poisoning. The postmortem report of the dead cows is awaited, and the samples collected in gosala were also sent to the Forensic Laboratories and will get the report within a week.
