SIT Police Station will have powers across the State

Amaravati: The AP government has constituted the Special Investigation Team (SIT) as Police Station, on Monday. The SIT Police Station will have jurisdiction across the State.

The Government declared the SIT as Police Station for the entire State as its jurisdiction to investigate the irregularities highlighted by Cabinet Sub Committee.

It will register and investigate cases under Section 2(s) of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973, informed Kumar Viswajeet, Principal Secretary, Home Department. Viswajeet released a G.O.MS.No. 34 on Monday with this effect.

The Principal Secretary explained that the SIT would have powers to call for any person or officer in connection with the enquiry and investigation, to record his or her statement as per the provisions of CrPC. The SIT can call for and examine any record pertaining to issues or land transactions in various aspects.

So far, the government has not decided on the location of the office of the SIT. At the same time, the sources in the police department informed that most likely the office of the SIT will be established in the Mangalagiri or Tadepalli in Guntur district.

It is known that the SIT is headed by Kolli Raghuram Reddy, DIG, Intelligence, in which the other nine officials were appointed as members.
