SIT to probe into attack on Naidu's bus: IG Vineet Brijlal

Guntur: A Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Guntur Rural Additional SP (crimes) K Chakravarthy was formed to carry out a probe into the incidents of stone pelting and throwing of chappals at the bus in which TDP supremo and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu travelled during his visit to capital Amaravati on last Thursday.

The TDP leaders were alleging that due to negligence of the police department, the incidents of stone pelting and throwing of chappals on the bus happened. The SIT will take over investigation of the above two cases and inquire into the alleged negligence and dereliction of duty by the police officials during Chandrababu Naidu's tour to the State capital and submit a report within a week to the government. Following instructions of the Director General of Police Gautam Sawang, the SIT was constituted.

South Coastal Zone Guntur range IG Vineet Brijlal informed that as soon as the bus in which Naidu was travelling reached near the seed access road at Venkatapalem village, some farmers raised slogans against Naidu. The TDP leaders in the Naidu's convoy raised slogans in favour of the former Chief Minister.

He said Bhaskara Rao, a farmer, threw chappals at the bus, Srungarapatu Sandeep pelted stones on the bus. The police took the two persons into custody and they booked cases against them. They have been shifted to Thullur Police Station.

The IG informed that Guntur rural police provided security to Naidu with 207 cops. It may be mentioned that TDP MLA K Achannaidu and MLC P Ashok Babu lodged a complaint at the Thullur Police Station on the above incident and demanded action against the accused.
