Sitting MLA Pendurthi to take on Jakkampudi Raja

Rajamahendravaram: The Rajanagaram Assembly constituency came into existence in 2009 in the place of Burugupudi constituency as part of delimitation of constituencies. After delimitation, elections were held twice in 2009 and 2014 to Rajanagaram constituency and so far, the elections were held 13 times from 1952 as it was under Burugupudi constituency. Sitanagaram, Korukonda and Rajanagaram mandals falls under the constituency.

TDP sitting MLA Pendurthi Venkatesh and YSCP State youth wing president Jakkampudi Raja are in the fray for the elections. P Venkatesh was earlier elected from the constituency in 2009 and 2014 elections defeating Praja Rajyam Party and YSRCP candidates Girajala Venkata Swamy Naidu and Jakkampudi Vijaya Lakshmi.

In 1994 and 1999 elections, TDP candidates Korpu Venkata Rama Krishna and Korpu Achaiahmamba were elected and in 2004 elections, Congress candidate Chitturi Ravindra was elected.

TDP candidate Pendurthi Venkatesh appealing the people to cast their vote for development taken up during the TDP rule. Airport, Adikavi Nannaya University, GSL Group of Medical Colleges and Hospitals, Purushottapatnam Lift Irrigation Project are in his constituency.

Meanwhile YSRCP candidate Jakkampudi Raja is seeking votes assuring the people that he would show better development in the constituency if he was elected.
