Sivaprasad confident of scoring hat-trick
Chittoor: The actor turned politician Dr N Sivaprasad is contesting for Chittoor Lok Sabha seat on TDP ticket for the third time. He won as MP in 2009 and 2014 from Chittoor (SC) Parliamentary constituency. The sitting MP gained national media attention by participating in the Parliament in different attire to highlight the need of the Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh.
Being resident of Tirupati, he actively attended official and party meetings in Chittoor, Tirupati or elsewhere in the constituency. Sivaprasad is a close associate of caretaker Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. However, he failed to fulfil promises given to people in two terms. His reason was that the successive Central governments had failed to respond on his representations.
Speaking to The Hans India here on Tuesday, Sivaprasad stated that he met Railway Minister on several occasions to provide halt to four non-stop express trains passing through Chittoor Railway Station. It did not become reality, he stated. The TDP sitting MP claimed that he succeeded in providing basic facilities to social welfare hostels and protected the interests of Scheduled Castes (SCs).
Replying to a question, Sivaprasad mentioned his priority will be fulfilling all poll promises once he elected as MP. Especially, providing drinking water to Chittoor city from Adavipalle reservoir at a cost of Rs 250 crore, he added.
His other promises are upgrading Palamaner as new revenue division and setting up community halls in the Assembly constituencies. He exuded confidence of TDP winning Chittoor, Palamaner, Puthalapattu, GD Nellore, Chandragiri and Nagari Assembly constituencies with thumping majority.
