SKOCH Governance Award for Prakasam Police

Ongole: The Prakasam district police bagged prestigious SKOCH Award for second consecutive year. The revolutionary initiative by the district SP Siddharth Kaushal, Abhay Vehicle, brought the SKOCH District Governance Award 2020 to the Prakasam police.

The Prakasam District Police launched the Abhay Vehicle as drop home and escort home service from 09.00 PM to 05.00 AM to help the distressed women in an emergency. The SP asked the women to Dial 100 if they felt suspicious over surroundings, sense danger and he assured that the police team reach them in no time to protect them and drop them home if necessary.

He also assured the women to not worry that the police vehicles are also equipped with a body-worn camera to live stream the video to the control room, a woman police officer to assist the victim in distress. He said that the police department gives top priority to the safety of women and asked all women to not risk their lives but Dial 100 in emergency situations.

The Abhay Vehicle Service became an instant hit not only in the district and state but the officers of other states like Uttar Pradesh also inspired by it and introduced Quick Response Vehicles in their places.

The SP of Prakasam district received the first SKOCH Award in November 2019, for the Project JIO and is about to receive the second SKOCH Award in less than a year of his service as SP, on March 14, 2020, at New Delhi.
