Software glitches in SVU testing students patience in Tirupati
Tirupati: Technical errors in Sri Venkateswara University exams are creating problems to its students. Due to negligence of the varsity examination wing officials for the last few months many technical errors had crept in resulting in hundreds of varsity affiliated college students losing their scholarships in 2018-2019 academic years.
A few days ago, varsity exams wing had announced October 17 as the last date for payment of all semester exam fee, later they extended the last date to October 21. Even after the last date, officials did not complete the collection of exam fee till October 28.
Due to the delay in collection of fee, conducting of semester exams will be delayed. Varsity examination department officials are blaming the delay on account of software problems. As a result, students did not get confirmation of payment of examination fee. Similarly, degree students' scholarships and fee reimbursement mapping were also not done by the Electronic Data Processing (EDP) cell.
This has resulted in the degree students in SV University affiliated colleges in the Chittoor district not qualifying for scholarships since January 2019. The reason for this problem is also software glitches. Representations by students' wings did not yield any result.
Reacting to these problems, SV University Rector G Sundaravalli said, "varsity examination wing is facing software problems provided by a private software company which had earlier provided software consultancy to the university.
However, we are addressing the software and other technical issues and the problem will be sorted out soon. Shortly, we will rectify the student fee reimbursement mapping and collecting of examination fees process."
