Special teams formed to curb irregularities in liquor sale in Srikakulam
Srikakulam: Excise Deputy Commissioner (DC) S Sukesh said that the department has formed special teams to prevent irregularities in supply and sale of liquor at wine shops, bar and restaurants.
Speaking to media at his office here on Friday, he said they were receiving numerous complaints regarding the collection of high prices than maximum retail price (MRP) and dilution of liquor by mixing cheap liquor and belt shops.
"We are maintaining strict vigil on these irregularities by forming special teams," the DC said. From October 1 onwards the government liquor shops will come into force and interested persons can apply for getting licence to maintain government shop and last date for submission of these applications is August 18, the DC said.
So far, we have received 31 tender applications for government shops in the district, he said and added in total 239 approved shops were in existence in the district, of them only 196 shops renewed their licence and remaining 43 shops did not come forward to renew their licences, for which last date is September 30.
From October 1 onwards all these approved 239 shops will be run by the government, the DC elaborated. Government liquor depot manager G Kumaraswamy was also present.
