Srikakulam: A bank employee working at Veeragattam branch tested positive for coronavirus. He used to stay at Palakonda mandal centre. He is the resident of Neelamma Colony along with his family and parents and his in-laws are residing at Gayatri Nagar in Palakonda.

These two areas have been declared as containment zones.

The bank employee on Monday was shifted to Covid-19 hospital in Srikakulam.

Officials identified 36 persons as his primary contacts and picked all of them. They were sent to quarantine centres for observation and for tests.

The bank employee reportedly played shuttle with his friends at Palakonda on Sunday also and officials admonished him for playing games by neglecting his covid-19 symptoms and thus spreading the infection to others, including his family members.

Reports suggested that the employee came in contact with a large number of people in the colony where he stayed.
