Srikakulam Beautification: Officials told to submit detailed reports

Srikakulam: Beautification works should be undertaken in and around Srikakulam city to provide amusement to residents of the city, said District Collector J Nivas and YSRCP Srikakulam MLA Dharmana Prasada Rao.

They reviewed possibilities for beautification works in Srikakulam city with the officials concerned on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, the MLA asked officials to prepare detailed project reports (DPRs) for development around the irrigation tank located at Peddapadu village adjacent to Srikakulam city.

Walking tracks and recreation parks need to be developed at Government Arts College campus and at existing parks at Santhi Nagar Colony and other areas. District Collector J Nivas asked industries managements to spend funds for development of tourism works in the city as part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The State government sanctioned Rs 7.5 core for improvement works around irrigation tank at Peddapadu village.

At present films are the only entertainment for residents of Srikakulam city and hence there is a need to provide other means of recreation and enjoyment. River Nagavali is passing through Srikakulam city and the banks of the river on either side need to be developed as parks and, walking tracks, MLA Dharmana Prasada Rao suggested.

Officials of Srikakulam Municipal Corporation, Irrigation Department and representatives of various industries participated in the meeting.
