Srikakulam: With number of coronavirus cases increasingly rapidly in the district, the district administration has taken all measures to contain the infections.

As part of it, District Collector J Nivas on Monday held an awareness meeting with Registered Medical Practitioners (RMPs) here on Monday. There are reports of positive cases at Mandasa, Burja, Palakonda, Palasa, Madapam, Itchapuram and other areas. The officials expressed concern over the spike in number of infections.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector directed the RMPs to provide information on persons infected with Covid-19 to the officials concerned so that the patients can be given better medical treatment and their lives can be saved. If the treatment is started to the patients within seven days of infection, they can recover fast, he said.

The Collector asked RMPs to treat patients suffering from fever, cold and asthma separately from others. The RMPs need to provide details of patients to the officials, he said. He urged the people to follow lockdown rules and wear mask in public. Those who failed to wear masks would be sent to quarantine centres to do work there as punishment.

Joint Collector K Srinivasulu, District Medical and Health Officer M Chenchayya, District Surveillance Officer for Covid-19 cases Bagadi Jagannadha Rao, and others were present.
