Srikakulam: Fever survey aims to trace Covid cases, says DSO Dr Bagadi Jagannadha Rao

Srikakulam: After the monsoon rains, it's the seasonal diseases that are spreading fast across the district and troubling the people. People are worried about fevers and related ailments in the wake of increase of corona positive cases. With the district reported 499 positive cases so far, the medical staff are on high alert and conducting tests to trace

Covid cases. In Srikakulam, 14 government hospitals and 79 primary health centres (PHC) are available but the patients who are suffering from seasonal ailments are unable to get proper treatment as the medical staff are absolutely deputed for Covid duties.

In the meanwhile, instead of providing treatment to patients, who are suffering from seasonal ailments, medical and health department staff launched survey to identify fevers.

In the wake of spurt in Covid cases, the patients fearing of quarantine, are likely to conceal their ailments during fever survey. The private hospitals and local registered medical practitioners (RMP) are allegedly hiding the details of patients, who are approaching them for treatment. On learning about hiding details of patients at private hospitals and local clinics, District Collector J Nivas directed the doctors to provide details of patients, who are suffering from fevers and other related seasonal ailments like cold and cough.

"After the return of migrated workers, Covid positive cases are started increasing in the district. The corona positive cases are likely to increase further in the coming 60 days in the district," said district surveillance officer (DSO) for Covid cases Dr Bagadi Jagannadha Rao. With an aim to start early treatment to Covid patients, we have launched fever survey to identify cases in the district, the DSO added.
