Srikakulam: Government gives approval for road bridge across Nagavali river

Srikakulam: The State government has given its approval for construction of road bridge across the Nagavali river. The Engineer-in-Chief of Roads and Buildings has issued orders in this regard. The orders reached to Superintending Engineer on Monday.

The government also sanctioned Rs 15 lakh to meet miscellaneous expenditure for preparation of estimations and the detailed project report (DPR).

The road bridge, according to officials, will be constructed between Waltair village near Balasalarevu under Santhakaviti mandal and Isukalapeta under Amudalavalasa mandal.

It is a long pending demand of the people in Rajam and Amudalavalasa Assembly constituencies. It will reduce the distance between Rajam and Amudalavalasa towns also and facilitate transportation between these two towns.

The road bridge will also serve people in more than 30 villages in two Assembly constituencies as it will reduce distance between these villages.

By neglecting this long pending demand for the bridge during TDP regime, the then Amudalavalasa MLA and government whip K RaviKumar proposed a road bridge across the Nagavali river between Belamam and Muddadapeta villages in Amudalavalasa mandal.

At that time people of both Rajam and Amudalavalasa Assembly constituencies strongly opposed it and staged series of agitations under the aegis of communist party of India. They also made several representations that the Balasalarevu bridge would be more appropriate.
