Srikakulam: Police crack mystery behind serial killings, arrest one

Srikakulam: Meliaputti and Saravakota mandal police in Srikakulam district on Saturday cracked the mystery behind serial killing of three women with the arrest of a 55-year-old Savara Ramesh. He hailed from Valakabhadra village under Rayagadha block in Gajapathi district of Odisha State

Superintendent of police R N Ammi Reddy at a press conference here explained that the accused had murdered several women after trapping them at different places in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States. He turned a serial killer after his wife had gone insane.

The SP said the assailant had committed murder for the first time on October 16, 2016 by killing a woman, D Damayanthi, resident of resident of Bhimpuram, near to his native village. To escape from punishment, he moved to Aswaraopeta under Kothagudem district in Telangana State. He developed extra marital relationship with a woman, M Konamma there and killed her. He then moved to Gokinakonda village in Guntur

district and worked at a fish pond. He trapped a woman, D Jayanthi there. She was native of Aludu village under Saravakota mandal in Srikakulam district. But Jayanthi after some time returned to her native village. The accused got in touch with her and asked her to meet him at Pattupuram village under Meliaputti mandal in Srikakulam district. The assailant killed her there and dumped the body in a canal, the SP said.
