Srikakulam: Speaker alleges irregularities in project in TDP rule

Srikakulam: Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram said that those who indulged in irregularities during the previous government would face music as the government had set up Special Investigating Team (SIT). Sitaram launched works of a lift irrigation scheme at Lydam village in Ponduru mandal along with minister for roads and buildings Dharmana Krishna Das on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker alleged that several irregularities had occurred in irrigation projects during TDP regime in the state. He explained that vigilance wing was on the job of collecting all details regarding anomalies and action would be initiated against culprits later. He said that he was giving priority to serve people first and later would ensure guilty were punished.

Minister Krishna Das said that the YSRCP government was committed to the welfare of farmers in the district and with the Lydam lift irrigation scheme, 1,174 acre would get irrigation water benefiting 1, 250 farmers in six villages under two mandals of G. Sigadam and Ponduru.
