Srikakulam: Speaker pitches for revamp of the education system
Srikakulam: Education system should be revamped to meet the present-day requirements, stated Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram.
Participating as chief guest in the National Education Day celebrations here on Monday to mark the birth anniversary of Moulana Abul Kalam Azad, the Speaker said the present education system should inculcate moral values among students.
He said the present day students were eyeing on profitable profession and power-oriented posts and no one wished to emerge as a strong political leader.
"This highlights how the education system was damaged," the Speaker said. He said the State government was committed to improve poor people through education and that's why introduced English medium in civic body schools.
He also said that the government has allotted Rs 420 crore funds for foreign education of minorities and poor people. Collector J Nivas was also present. On the occasion, the Speaker, the Collector and other officials presented Pratibha Awards to merit students.
