Trade unions oppose BJP government’s anti-poor policies

Srikakulam: The BJP-led NDA government at the Centre is adopting anti-poor and anti-workers policies, which is not good for the country development, said CITU State vice-president Duppala Govinda Rao.

Participating in a protest held in Srikakulam on Friday by trade unions and employees' unions as part of nationwide call, he said the Centre's anti-poor and anti-workers policies diluting labour laws were harming the poor and employees.

In the name of Covid induced lockdown, he said the Central government intensified its anti-workers' policies by diluting labour laws and leaving the workers' welfare in lurch.

He demanded monetary benefits, full salary to the workers in unorganised sector and also insurance facility to provide financial guaranty to the families of workers in case of any untoward incident occurred.

The CITU leader strongly opposed privatisation of public sector units. He also said the YSRCP-led government in the state was also acting on the guidelines of Central government by neglecting workers' community and their welfare.

Stating both Central and State governments' were providing various benefits to corporate bodies at the cost of welfare of poor and workers' community in the country and in the state as well, he pointed out subsidy amounts in various fields are being claimed by the MNCs, as a result, nation's wealth is being concentrated in the hands of a few people.

Various trade unions and employees unions' representatives T Tirupathi Rao, N V Ramana, S Nagaraju, P Jivaratnam, A Mahalaxmi, K Ganapathi, L Anantha Rao, M Adinarayana Murthy and others participated in the dharna.
